What does a company do after I file my claim?

A company representative will review your claim to see if you have included all the required documentation of your disability. They will also check to see if your policy is in force and if it provides coverage for your current condition. If these criteria have been satisfied, they will determine how much you are entitled to receive and when the elimination period for you policy ends. Then, the claims payment unit within the insurance company will be notified to begin paying you until your disability ends or you reach the limits of your disability coverage.
